Trekking Cerro Castillo National Park 5D tour is the ultimate experience and one of the less known Treks in Chile. The magnificent Cerro Castillo peak lies 7,605 feet above Coyhaique and Río Ibáñez, and in the area surrounding it, you’ll find a trekking circuit that has been named one of the most beautiful in all Chile. The Lenga and Ñirre forests are home to Huemules (South Andean Deer) and it’s not uncommon to spot one near the Ibáñez park entrance, just next to the Carretera Austral. The hanging glaciers form lagoons with bright turquoise waters, giving even more color and life to a unique landscape that already captivates visitors from around the world.

Starting / Finishing Points

The trip starts on Friday and finishes on Tuesday with pick up and drop off at Balmaceda Airport.
Flights should arrive between 15.30 and 17.00hs and should depart after 17.00hs.

Physical Demands Active travelers with an adventurous spirit and a positive attitude will enjoy this trek. To have the best experience possible it is essential to be in good physical condition before you arrive. It is not recommended to regard this trek as a means of getting into shape or losing excess weight. Start a program of conditioning well before departure. Group Size & Guiding Staff Minimum is 2 people and maximum of 10 people. Transport Transport is in minivans that normally seat 8 to 14 people. Weather During the summer months (December to March), you can expect to have some nice weather and warm days. However, you also need to bear in mind that it may rain – a lot – no matter the season, so you should come prepared for potential rainfall. Remember: the weather in Patagonia is unpredictable and may move between all four seasons in one day. It is recommended to come prepared.

What you need to bring Passengers need to be prepared for fluctuating weather that can move from summer to winter in a day. Essential equipment includes: Daypack (30 liters maximum)
Trekking or hiking boots
Sandals to cross some rivers
Waterproof jacket
Two pairs of woolen socks
Fleece jacket
Sun protection (glasses, hat, lip balm and, screen)
Optional Capilene underwear for the upper/lower body and gaiters.
