Itinerary
Santiago – Easter Island
Reception in Hanga Roa airport with local welcome and flower necklace.
Afterwards, you’ll be transferred to your Hotel, in the village of Hanga Roa, near all the most important restaurants, museum, shops and local market.
Our guides will give you an itinerary for the next days and we’ll pick you up at your hotel every morning.
Lodging at Hotel Tiare Pacific or similar at Hanga Roa town
Full Day Anakena
After breakfast, our first stop will take us to a restored Ahu called VAIHU, which suffered a destruction phase few centuries ago. We follow AKAHANGA AHU region, which legend tells us that the tomb of the famous King HOTU MATUA is located next to the Ahu.
Afterwards, we’ll visit one of the most important sites of the Rapa Nui culture, the quarry Rano Raraku, where Rapa Nui people carved approximated 900 statues, 397 of them still lying or standing in various stages of construction and transportation.
As well, we’ll visit the famous TONGARIKI AHU, restored in 1995, with its 15 statues standing.
The penultimate site to visit is the “Navel of the World”, along with the AHU TE PITO KURA.
Finally we reached the beach of Anakena, where we find two platforms, the AHU AHU NAU NAU and ATURE HUKI, both restored. We can also appreciate the warm Pacific waters, relax and take a swim on the beach.

Recommendations: bring water and clothes for swimming in Anakena beach; ask for towels at the hotel.

HD Orongo & Rano Kau + HD Ahu Akivi Tahai Sector
After breakfast we’ll start the excursion going up the extinct Volcano RAO KAU, where you’ll appreciate a great view of the coast, volcanoes and the Hanga Roa town. We’ll continue walking to a lookout point where the crater and lagoon of the Volcano can be seen. Then we head to the Ceremonial village of Orongo where the TANGATA MATU competition is taken place. We’ll also visit the AHU VINAPU with its characteristic architecture of pre-Inca period. At last, we’ll visit
the ANA KAI TANGA cave where you’ll appreciate paintings from the past.

HD AHU AKIVI AND TAHAI SECTOR
This half day excursion consists of a site visit with 3 TAHAI ceremonial platforms, AHU, with its statues restored. This site also has the only Moai with eyes. We can also see the remains of a house boat, a house of stone and completely built a jetty rocks.
Then continue with our visit to the AHU AKIVI, restored platform with 7 Moais. According to the legend, these seven statues represent the first explorers who arrived in Rapa Nui, sent by King Hotu Matua.
Later we visit the Puna Pau quarry where he carved the PUKAO of the Moais.

Easter Island – Santiago
