Cycling our Chile Wine and Cycling Tour at Colchagua Wine Valley and Maula Valley is a superb experience. In 2006, the prestigious North American magazine Wine Enthusiast named the Colchagua Valley the best Wine Region in the World for the quality of its wines and the development associated with it. Colchagua Valley is one of the most up raising wine valleys worldwide and the most developed valley focused towards tourism industry in Chile.
Ecotours Chile Bike tour will take you to ride the Apalta area, visiting Neyen, Montes and Clos Apalta Valley. As well, the Millahue Valley as we cycle towards VIK winery and enjoy a delicous lunch with pairing. On some days, we’ll cycle towards different wineries, touring on them, doing wine tasting, enjoying pairings and being able to learn about Chilean culture and history.
This bike tour will head towards the coast as we enter the Maule Valley, where you’ll be able to cycle by different beach towns and admiring our Pacific ocean and cycle by the shores of the Maule River.
Our last days will be focused on Casa Bouchon Winery and Hotel, being able to visit other amazing wineries as Gilmore or Caliboro.

SAFETY
Besides your own on-road safety gear (helmet, rearview mirrors, bright colored jerseys and gloves) we provide a support vehicle that drives at the rear of the group with a road-sign that alert other drivers the presence of bike riders on the road. Drivers in Chile are used to bicycles on the road, so they shouldn’t bother you while riding. All our staff communicates by radio at all time.
DIFFICULTY
Easy – Medium, designed for people who lead active lives and are comfortable participating in up to [4] hours of physical activity per day. Programs at this level generally involve some activities of higher intensity and/or a more vigorous pace..
PACKING TIPS
We advise you to bring clothing for warm and cold weather; also including helmet and cap, brightly colored cycling jerseys, arm and leg warmers, base layers, windbreaker, booties, gloves, two pairs of sneakers, a waterproof jacket and any other waterproof item, sunglasses, bathing suit and sandals. Don’t forget your camera!

AIRLINE INFORMATION
We highly recommend getting the Chile Airpass ticket with Lan Airlines, which includes the international flight from New Zealand to Santiago (Chile) and the domestic flights Santiago(SCL)-Temuco(ZCO) and Puerto Montt (PMC)-Santiago(SCL). This Airpass is definitely less expensive than buying the flights separately and what’s more important it is very flexible if there are some unexpected last minute changes. Lan Airlines Airpass can be purchased at any IATA travel agent.
ALTITUDE SICKNESS
There is nothing to be worrying about altitude sickness. We will never get higher than 6,200 feet (second day ride).
INSURANCE
Any policy you purchase should, at the very least, cover trip cancellation, loss of baggage, accident/life coverage, travel delays, and non-refundable airline tickets. Carriers for travel insurance include Travel Guard and Travelex. You may also consider insurance that covers emergency medical evacuation.
