Main Info:
Our Aconcagua Valley Wine Tour is the best experience related to Chilean wines. The Aconcagua Valley has a Mediterranean climate with warm summers that are cooled by breezes of the Pacific Ocean and its cold Humboldt Current. This cooling influence creates a long growing season with ripening some two to three weeks later than any other Chilean wine region. Late ripening enhances the flavors, intensity and concentration of Aconcagua Valley wines. The Aconcagua Valley is found on the east side of the Aconcagua region, one of Chile’s four main producing regions.
Measuring around 100km (60 miles) in length, the valley runs between the slopes of the Andes in the east and the Pacific Ocean in the west. Many wine-growing areas are closely linked to the river and follow its course as it brings fresh meltwater (and mineral-laden silt) down from the Andean peaks provides vineyard irrigation.
Red grape varieties dominate the production from Aconcagua Valley, with Syrah in particular being well adapted to the region’s hot temperatures and long ripening season. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc have a long tradition in the interior of the valley.
VON SIEBENTHAL WINERY
For over two decades, Mauro von Siebenthal, a Swiss lawyer and wine aficionado, had a dream. In 1998, with the financial support of four friends, Viña von Siebenthal finally became a reality. Viña von Siebenthal’s harmonious philosophy has produced an extremely elegant wine which eloquently expresses the extraordinary characteristic of the Valle de Aconcagua terroir.
Viña Von Siebenthal is one of the South American vineyards with the highest recognition from international critics.
Our philosophy is to share our achievements and our authentic environments with all wine lovers, passionate about high-level viticulture and enology.
During the tour you’ll be able to visit the cellar and taste a Carmenere + Parcela 7 + Carabantes and some cheese accompanied with bread and water.
ERRAZURIZ WINERY
For those who enjoy fine wines and want to know more about the wines of the Aconcagua Valley. The tour begins with a conversation about the history of Viña Errázuriz and its importance in the development of the wine industry at a national and international levels.
Visitors tour the underground cellars and vineyards, addressing viticultural topics.
The tour begins in the patrimonial Casona Don Maximiano and the century-old limestone structure of its historic underground wine cellars, where we will delve into the origins of Viña Errázuriz.
Next, among the vineyards, we will uncover the characteristics that make the Aconcagua Valley such a unique terroir in Chile, which we work with precision viticulture and profound knowledge of the environment.
The tour continues in our Don Maximiano Icon winery to explore its functioning, marked by modernity and sustainability, in its avant-garde design and in producing the icon wines. Later in Viña Errázuriz’s production cellar, we complete the fermentation process through all the winemaking techniques in making wines in the MAX range from the moment the grapes are received.
The tour ends with a tasting of four wines from our MAX line at the wine bar.
FLAHERTY WINERY
Ed Flaherty and Jen Hoover are two Californians who arrived in Chile in 1993 to work in a harvest and then decided to settle in the Aconcagua Valley. This valley has an exceptional climate for growing grapes, producing red wines with soft tannins and intense fruit aromas. In 2004 Ed and Jen began the “Flaherty Wines” adventure as a boutique winery producing their red blends. From the first harvest of 1,200 bottles, the winery grew and managed to produce 40,000 bottles in 2015.
You’ll be able to enjoy a tour of the winery and taste two of their best wines.
